The Provisional Resident is an online collaboration and conversation about media, new technology, arts, culture, politics and the world we live in.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Gregory Szopa is a media professional with extensive experience in radio, television, and online broadcasting industry. He is an alumni of McMaster University (Hamilton) and Ryerson University (Toronto), where he studied film, photography, and new media at the School of Image Arts. Greg has focused his entire career in the media production industry and started his professional career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Radio Canada (CBC) working as a television producer for a nationally televised news magazine program, CBC News: Sunday and CBC News: Sunday Night.
He’s strongly motivated by new technologies and how they shape the future of cross platform television and internet production, consumption and distribution. Greg believes the future success of broadcasting lies in the ability to adapt to rapidly changing distribution and consumption models, while continuing to attract and maintain strong audience bases in a multimedia universe.
He specializes in digital media production, digital media strategy, communications expertise, creative direction, and partnership development.
Gregory currently works for Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) as a Digital Media Consultant and resides in Melbourne, Australia.
