Distance and Freedom: 17th Biennale of Sydney

The 17th Biennale of Sydney came to a close this weekend. I had the chance to fly up to Sydney for the day and experience a world-class art exhibit. Cockatoo Island is the major venue and host to 120 works by 56 international artists. Highlights from the exhibit include China’s Cai Guo-Qiang art installation of nine cars suspended in mid-air with pulsing rod of light and explosion; and Hiroshi Sugimoto’s perilously exhibited 8×10″ large format photography work, ‘Faraday Cage’, at the Power House.
